The Greatest 2 minutes and 15 seconds of your day

I am really easy to please. It doesn't take a whole lot to make me smile. I can usually amaze myself by doing really stupid things, like inventing a song to sing while I feed the cats and dog (which I do, daily). But there are some things that just consistently please me, no matter how many times they have made me smile in the past.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of those things. I know I have gone on and on about its greatness in the past, so I won't rehash. But the soundtrack - that is something otherworldly. It is such a perfectly executed soundtrack that I can't help but get all misty when I hear it. It works like a fucking charm, every time.

Don't lie and say you are not one of those people. You've been there, even though you might be ashamed to admit it. Driving in the car one day, and a song comes on the radio that so vivdly brings back the time that you made out with some guy / chick on a grassy hill in the sun when you were 14. You can't help but smile, or be sad, or laugh. But it forces something inside of you to escape. To me, that is what good music is. It references something else for you personally - be it good or bad.

The Eternal Sunshine soundtrack is like my g-spot for perfect music. It finds this great balance between sadness and happiness that is a fucking superb spot to dwell in. It's like when you cry so hard that you start laughing. Because there is nothing else to do. It hurts so bad that you have to laugh. This soundtrack reminds me of every single important moment in my life - every pinnacle, every opportunity missed, every opportunity taken, every time my soul has been crushed, or rebuilt, or refilled, or enlightened, or calmed. It causes this overwhelming peace in which you are able to just step out of yourself and say "yes, this is the way that it is".
