I was cleaning my couch the other day, and noticed that it looks like shit. I have thought about buying a new one, and even had one all picked out at Roy's. But I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of my 3 year old couch. It just seems so wasteful.
So I went to Joann Fabrics on Tuesday planning to buy some christmas ornaments, and ended up walking out with 10 yards of chocolate brown microsuede. That I got at a STEAL. It was on sale for $2.99 a yard, marked down from $9.99. As an added bonus, I needed to get the fabric of two reams because 1 only had 7.5 yards. And the cutting girl only charged the 7.5 yards from the first bolt to my cutting slip. On top of all that, I had also picked up about 3 yards of silk remnants to make some pillow shams for my bed. All remnants are 50% the regular price, and then the cashier rang them up an additional 75% off. So for 10 yards of microsuede, 3 yards of silk, 2 spools of thread, 2 packages of iron-on hem tape, 350 pins, and a wax marking pencil I spent an whopping $40. Bitchin.
I got all of the couch pinned and sewn except for the cushions, and it fits like a fucking tube top. I couldn't be more pleased with myself. Screw this web design crap. A seamstress life is the life for me. As soon as I steal my camera back from Patrick, you can expect me to post pictures of the progress like the proud parent I am.
