i took jessica for her initiating trip to the new 2-story target, and we acted like buffoons in the toy section. jessica decided she needed lord of the rings toys right away, and i freaked out about the peanuts christmas figurines (i ended up buying lucy and her psychiatry stand).
and then we found The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers Lights 'n' Sound Stinger Sword. it makes noise when you hit it against things, like real sword fight sounds. we had a good 5 minutes of joy playing with it, put it in the basket, and continued walking on. unfortunately, it was so sensitive that it kept making clanging noises while i was walking in the store. jessica was almost peeing herself. THEN, we went to check out and the cashier was talking to the cashier next to her while bagging and totally not paying attention. the sword was making all kinds of noise while she scanned it and bagged it, jessica and i were almost in tears, and she didn't even notice. jessica finally pointed it out to her, she looked at us like we just offered her a crack pipe, went back to cashiering. jessica didn't notice, but the cashier girl kept poking the bag the sword was in to see if it actually made noise or if we were just crazy. in the end, she thought we were just crazy.
