i hate cingular

my new goal in life is to make sure no one ever ever ever signs up for new cingular service. Their only customers should be us poor suckers that have been roped into contracts.

to be fair, i really didn'y have any problems with them for about a year. but then, in may, we decided maybe it was time to grow up and upgrade our phones from our very ancient Nokia 5165s. We went to the Cingular store, and they issued us new Siemens A56.

These did not work the majority of the time. We got no service in our house.

So we went back. They gave us the Ericsson t616.

These did not work either. but worse. because they pretended to work, and then died. I once tried to have a conversation with jason that got cut out 7 times. i was almost ready to cry by then end of it. or feed my phone to the snake. Even worse, it was always roaming trying to find a network (yes, even in the very populous city of chicago) and our billl slapped us with about 3 zillion dollars in roaming charge for CALLING FROM OUR LIVING ROOM!

So we went back. They said we should have the Erricson T62u. But they are out of stock. So we have to go to another cingular store. we do. we wait. we finally get new phones.

These phones work for about 2 months, and then we start having problems getting service. Sometimes you can get service in the kitchen. Sometimes on the front porch. very rarely in the living room. but service is better in the BASEMENT. but you have to trick it to realize it is in the basement with the better network by turning the phone off and then turning it on again.

On top of this, we haven't been able to get a straight bill out of cingular in months. we are continuously overcharged, our plan gets screwed up, they forget about features. so each month, our bill arrives at our door for somewhere around the amount of $150 - $360. FOR A SERVICE WE CAN'T EVEN USE 50% OF THE TIME!

I had to talk Matt off a ledge this morning from just calling them and paying the early termination fee. he is done. he is so pissed at them. but if we pay that charge, i tell him, they win.

so it is up to me to call and hose them today, in hopes they realize they are a bunch of customer service imbeciles, and they had better work damn hard to correct this matter.

so, for the time being, spread the word. cingular can suck my heel.
