We went to Plato's Closet on Clybourn tonight, a buy-sell-trade clothing store. After living in San Diego, I have been pampered by Buffalo Exchange, possibly the best resale clothing store in the world. Plato's Closet paled in comparison. It was more expensive than I expected (jeans ranged from $15 - $35), and you don't get that great of a deal for selling your clothes. They give you 30 - 40% of what they are going to retail your items for. buffalo Exchange offered 40% in cash, 55% in trade (so WAY better). I did find a totally awesome, hand knit shawl for $6, which was an absolute steal.

You can tell it was handmade by someone and that it must have taken hours. It is all super nice ribbon and eyelash yarn, all of which runs anywhere from $4 - $15 per skein. So paying $6 for the whole shawl was a steal. I just couldn't let it sit there. I might just pull it apart and use the yarn. But then I realized that this was probably knit as a gift for someone. A very mean someone who turned around and sold it for $2. So now I don't think I can take it apart. It's just so sad.
